What?
I can’t tell you how many times in my 40 years of chiropractic practice I have heard this story, but it’s true. This month I am taking my blog where the sun doesn’t shine because it’s a new day when the miracle of chiropractic helps a patient overcome a painful and irritating condition as a result of trying to help a patient overcome a seemingly unrelated painful low back condition. It is definitely a two for one experience. So how could it be?
The simple answer to this question is: Nerves cause the body to work. Any interference to normal nerve function can cause the body to not work properly. The brain and spinal cord represent the central nervous system. The nerves that emanate from the spinal cord represent the peripheral nervous system. There are basically three types of nerves that course through the central and peripheral nervous system to cause the basic body functions known as the motor, sensory and visceral functions. When a vertebra of the spinal column is subluxated (malaligned or fixated) the potential for nervous system interference is at stake. This is how we lose our balanced functions and become sick.
The complex answer requires several courses in neuroanatomy and neurophysiology. I’m not going to do that to you in this blog. Suffice it to say, when a chiropractor finds a subluxation in your spine and makes an adjustment and that results in normal nerve function, your hemorrhoids may disappear. That’s a good thing. You can also benefit in many other ways. Just think of the possibilities.
